About RRSAC

RRSAC is scuba diving club based in Derby, United Kingdom. We are a branch of the British Sub Aqua Club, the largest independent diving club in the world.

Membership is open to Anyone. While the club was originally part of Rolls-Royce plc, we no longer have any formal links with Rolls-Royce and anyone is welcome to join.
Club Nights - Wednesdays from ~7pm

If you are interested in joining the club then a great place to start is to come along to one of our Club Nights for a chat with us.

We meet on a Wednesday evening, in the bar at Mickleover Golf Club (near Royal Derby Hospital), from ~7pm.

Club nights offer the opportunity to get together for theory training, special interest lectures, sign off training, or just to have a general natter about diving.

At the Golf Club, we  have access to food and refreshments as well as function room facilities.

Training

RRSAC offers a full diver training programme for all levels of experience, following the BSAC syllabus, leading to internationally recognised qualifications.

We have on-demand access to Moorways Swimming Pool in Derby, providing a safe and controlled environment for confined water training.

For open water training, we are within easy driving distance of the National Diving Centre at Stoney Cove, Leicestershire.

As well as running regular BSAC diver grade training courses, we operate a range of skills development courses, allowing you opportunities to build on your experience, learn new skills and explore new diving horizons.

Boat & Equipment

The club operates a 7m Osprey RIB fully equipped for safe diving operation at sea, with up to 10 divers. This allows us to be flexible with the choice of UK diving on offer. We also plan regular hard boat trips, using local dive charter services.

There is no need to purchase any equipment whilst learning to dive, as the club has all the kit required for training, and is available to hire at very reasonable rates, with charges going towards the cost of maintaining and replacing our equipment. Once you've decided diving is for you there will be plenty of helpful advice from club members on what kit to purchase first.

Diving with RRSAC

UK: We run regular weekend trips throughout the dive season, as well as one or two longer UK trips each year.

Overseas: There are normally one or two overseas trips organised each year. and have visited some really spectacular  'bucket list' destinations in recent years, including South Africa & Mozambique, Newfoundland, and the Galapagos Islands.

The dive calendar is never the same two years running although there are a few favourite destinations that crop up regularly. We try to offer a range of diving that appeals to all of our members interests, and experience.

Not sure if Diving is for you?

If you are thinking about diving, but you're not sure it's for you we offer Have-a-Go sessions, which include some time learning a little bit about diving and the equipment, before spending 45 minutes or so in the pool with an experienced diver/instructor. Have-a-Go evenings are a fun and safe way for you to try out the equipment and see if you are comfortable underwater.
